Rankings to back up why Red States are more free

In a previous post we discussed states and regions to move to resist the encroachment of our freedom.  This was based on the “red state-blue state” methodology (ie whether the state voted for Romney or Obama.  To review the report click here.

There are some actual scientific analysis that you can rank to find the “most free state” or at least a “freer” state to migrate to.  If you love freedom and find yourself living behind enemy lines, it is time to climb over the wall.

The first report is from the Mercatus Center, George Mason University.  The report is the Index of Personal and Economic Freedom in the 50 States.  “This project develops an index of economic and personal freedom in the American states. Specifically, it examines state and local government intervention across a wide range of public policies, from income taxation to gun control, from homeschooling regulation to drug policy.”

It ranks the top 15 as:

1. New Hampshire
2. South Dakota
3. Indiana
4. Idaho
5. Missouri
6. Nevada
7. Colorado
8. Oregon
9. Virginia
10. North Dakota
11. Florida
12. Oklahoma
13. Iowa
14. Texas
15. Georgia

The next report is by The Tax Foundation. The Tax Foundation publishes an Annual State and Local Tax Burden report.  The report’s “goal is to move the focus from the tax collector to the taxpayer. We aim to find what percentage of state income residents are paying in state and local taxes and whether those taxes are paid to their own state or to others. We are not attempting to find the amount of money state and local governments have collected; the Census Bureau publishes the definitive comparative data answering that question.”

It ranks the top 15 as:

1. Alaska
2. South Dakota
3. Tennessee
4. Lousiana
5. Wyoming
6. Texas
7. New Hampshire
8. Alabama
9. Nevada
10. South Carolina
11. Arizona
12. New Mexico
13. Montana
14. Mississippi
15. Oklahoma

In addition, the Tax Foundation publishes The State Business Climate Index.  The report concludes the following “The lesson is simple: a state that raises sufficient revenue without one of the major taxes will, all things being equal, have an advantage over those states that levy every tax in the state tax collector’s arsenal.”

It ranks the top 15 as:

1. Wyoming
2. South Dakota
3. Nevada
4. Alaska
5. Florida
6. Washington
7. New Hampshire
8. Montana
9. Texas
10. Utah
11. Indiana
12. Michigan
13. Oregon
14. Deleware
15. Tennessee

The final report is the Rich State Poor State Report by the American Legislative Exchange Council.  This report lists states according to “according to a variety of tax, spending, and regulatory policies.”

It ranks the top 15 as:

1 Utah
2 South Dakota
3 Virginia
4 Wyoming
5 North Dakota
6 Idaho
7 Missouri
8 Colorado
9 Arizona
10 Georgia
11 Arkansas
12 Tennessee
13 Florida
14 Oklahoma
15 Mississippi

As you may have noticed certain states tend to appear in multiple surveys and they also tend to be the red or swing states.  I encourage you to study these reports before making the move.  I encourage Free Men to move to these state, and conversely I encourage those opposed to the ideals of our nation (ie Leftists, Democrats, socialists, and communists) to move to the less free states. It is time for migration.
